Isese Day: Ibadan agog as traditional worshippers prepare for celebration
  • Makinde through the Secretary to the State Government, Olanike Adeyemo, on Friday, announced that every August 20 will be dedicated to the celebration of Isese Festival while Monday 21 is also declared as a holiday for workers in the state.

Members of the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association in Oyo State, on Saturday, commended the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, over what they termed his penchant for religious harmony and support for religious freedom.

The PUNCH had reported that Makinde through the Secretary to the State Government, Olanike Adeyemo, on Friday, announced that every August 20 will be dedicated to the celebration of Isese Festival while Monday 21 is also declared as a holiday for workers in the state.

This is as members of the association have been upbeat, preparing for various events that will usher in the first Isese Day festival that has the approval of the government.

A statement by the Secretary of the association, Fakayode Fatunde, Araba of Ibadan, Ifalere Odegbola and Aare Isese Foundation, Omikunmi Egbelade, respectively, saluted the strong will of the governor to institute a sense of equality among religions and adherents in the state.
