Write Articles About Your Town in Nigeria to win Cash Prizes

Dear family of the Motherland, it is another opportunity to win some cash through a contest.

This contest is part of the birthday celebration of the Motherland founder. Participants will Write a historical history of their city/town or any city/town they are familiar with, including pictures and references, winning articles will be displayed on our website and they will be credited to the writers

After the deadline, all articles will be screened by our team and the best of them will be selected by the Motherland Team while our social media followers will be the final judge. Followers on our social pages will have chances to read all the articles and decide the winners by the poll on our website www.motherland.com.ng

Submission Format
All submissions should be 500 – 1000 words and in a word format. Original writeups are encouraged and if this has been previously published, it will be disqualified.

Submission Guideline
The file name of your submission should be your full name

Start Date and Deadline

  • The start date is 15th February 2024;
  • All articles should be submitted by 23nd February 2024.

Submission Format

  • Entries may be submitted online in a Word format using the Google form
  • All submitted articles must be original and be relevant to the History of a city in Nigeria.
  • All submissions should be 500 – 1000 words
  • All submitted publications must contain the name of the author, which must correspond to the details on the submission. Authors using pseudonyms must demonstrate ownership of the pseudonym referenced.
  • One submission per author.
  • Any quotations or copyrighted material used in the article must be identified properly. Failure to identify non-original material will result in disqualification.
  • The article must be written in English.
  • The submission is open to “Only Nigerians or those with a Nigeria background”. This is to promote our Heritage and our culture.
  • The decision on winners as decided by the poll is final, and no appeals will be recognized.

Shortlisting and Judging

  • On the 4th of March 2024, our team will shortlist some candidates with the best articles for our social followers to read for 2 days on our website;
  • Followers will have chances to rate all the shortlisted candidates from best to the least within 24 hours;
  • The poll will show the winners as decided by the followers;
  • Winners will be officially announced on the 7th of March and Prizes will be awarded.
